In six seasons with New Orleans from 1975-80, Childs played in 85 games, starting 59 of them and finished his Saints career with 207 receptions for 3,224 yards (15.6 avg.) and 27 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 1979 after he posted 51 catches for 846 yards and five touchdowns. His most productive season as a pro came in 1978 when he caught 53 passes for 869 yards and four touchdowns. His nine receiving touchdowns in 1977 were tied for the third-most in the NFL that season.
